Hi, I’m Derek — founder of Summit Ledger Services. With over 20 years of experience in retail management, I’ve always thrived in helping people and solving problems.
While working in leadership roles, I started to notice a trend: many hardworking business owners around me were struggling to keep their books in order. It wasn’t due to a lack of effort — they were busy running their shops, dealing with vendors, and serving customers. Bookkeeping just wasn’t their strong suit.
I realized there was a gap in our community, and I decided to fill it. I transitioned from retail into full-time bookkeeping to make a greater impact, combining my organizational skills, financial understanding, and commitment to helping others.

Note: We do not travel outside of Searcy for on-site work. Everything we do is designed to be secure, remote, and efficient.

Once we understand your needs, we’ll send a clear proposal and service agreement — no hidden fees, no surprises.
3. Secure Setup
We’ll walk you through securely sharing:
- Access to your QuickBooks account
- Bank and credit card statements
- Payroll tools (if used)
- Past reports or financial documents
We use Dropbox for secure document handling.
4. Review & Cleanup
We’ll assess the state of your books, identify any inconsistencies, and clean up as needed — including backdated records if you’re behind.
5. Kickoff Meeting
We align on reporting frequency, communication preferences, and next steps.
6. Ongoing Bookkeeping Begins
From here, you’re in great hands. We’ll manage categorization, reconciliations, reporting, and updates — freeing you to focus on running your business.

We primarily communicate via email and respond promptly during business hours. Zoom or Teams meetings are available when needed, but most of our clients enjoy the ease of async, written updates.

⚖️ What We Don’t Do
We believe in focus and integrity. That means we do not currently offer tax filing or tax advisory services.
However, we maintain strong relationships with local CPAs in Searcy, AR and can refer you to excellent professionals for tax support.
